Anne K. Reeves, MS, LPC, CADC-1

Education and Training

I received a M.S in Counselor and Counselor Education from Indiana University in 2007 in the community mental health track. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and I am currently registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (license #C2515). I currently hold a certification in addictions counseling (CADC-1) and have been working in addictions therapy and mental health for the last five years.  In addition to my private practice, I practice outpatient therapy at Cedar Hills Hospital working with individuals in early recovery.

Approach to Therapy

I believe that we have the potential to grow towards increased self-agency, freedom and fulfillment. Many of us did not grow up learning how to do this on our own and we need help finding our way. There are times when an outside perspective can help us along in this process.
I see counseling as an opportunity to learn about oneself and about life. I believe in the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance in which the client feels understood and helped by the therapist. My core philosophy is interpersonal and emotion focused, where clients are encouraged to share their true thoughts and feelings. I utilize a variety of techniques in session in order to match to the client and their needs. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotion focused therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness in my sessions. I also work with clients on interpersonal skill development for healthier relationships and assertive communication. Clients need to be able to address these issues in a supportive and safe environment.
